Massimo D'Acunzo, aka Qunzo, is a graphic designer, illustrator and cartoonist from Naples, Italy. He collaborates with several Italian satire magazines and illustrates editorial works for children.
At the invitation of Cartooning for Peace, Cartoon Movement/Cartooning for Peace cartoonists Tjeerd Royaards, Zehra Ömeroğlu and Emanuele Del Rosso attended the World Forum for Democracy in Strasbourg last week.
They talked about making cartoons in this age of misinformation, hate towards migrants and climate skepticism, and how cartoons can be used to combat populism. You can watch a recording of the panel on the website of the Council of Europe.
Cartoon Movement is partner in a new four-year academic project titled Democratic Literacy and Humor (DELIAH for short), involving several universities in Europe. The project is funded by funded by Horizon Europe (Call: HORIZON-CL2-2024-DEMOCRACY-01-08) and will run from 1 March 2025 – 29 February 2029.
