Plagiarism in my view is a grey area only defined by an artists consience, I would furthersay that plagiarism is when a cartoonist traces over someone else's work.It is my deep belief that cartoonists can possibly draw similar work based on their exposure to similar environments or situations. The petition on change.org presents a new problem, straight jacket artists who have to check, counter check if possibly remotely someone did a similar drawing, that kills creativity and spontaneity. I think no artist should be faulted for repeating a concept, because no artist should claim a copyright to one.
Plagiarism should never be encouraged, but in the process we should not stifle creativity..what happened to there is more than one truth?
